F-f-f-finals!

As the school year closes (and some are already closed) it marks the season of relentless tests and quizzes, projects and frantic extra-credit assignments. And the dreaded finals.

This semester, my only concern is really Pre-Calculus, as usual. Then comes English, Biology, then World Geography. The elective classes will prove to be easy, since we’re allowed to use our notes. In P.E., as long as I ran a mile in under 12 minutes, I’d get an easy 100.

So today I ran, and all throughout today I was so tired. So tired, in fact, that I did quite terribly during my violin lessons. My teacher quickly figured that out, since I played a piece more terribly than I did last time I sight-read it. Of course, my weariness could be also due to the fact that I went to sleep at around 1 A.M. last night.

I’ve been doing much thinking, and I’ve decided to create a visual novel. It’s actually going to be the story of Eira, since I’m sort of too lazy to write the rest. It’s very difficult to write in that poetic form and carry on a story, so I’m pretty much condensing it to storyline. Perhaps I’ll write it properly later on, after I finish this project.

Did you know that Eira is based on a short story (found in an anthology) which in turn is based on Yuki-onna?

But before I begin, I have to write the script, and I also have to figure the code for Ren’py, a great (and free!) visual novel making software. I get only the basic coding, but the rest is pretty much out of my mind. It does contain some Python, but I’m completely unfamiliar with it as well. But slowly, over the summer, I may be able to learn the language.

Also, I’m most likely going to need a tablet if I want to make clean, smooth graphics. I especially hope that whatever tablet I will buy (or receive) will come this year. I’m very eager to get my hands on one! Hahah! However, I can still draw character sketches for you to see. I have a vague idea on what I want them to look like. Vague. Hey, maybe doing this project will also help me in drawing backgrounds.

Didn’t draw for a week due to another project, so I drew this right after reading Pandora Hearts Retrace LXI

a past without me

Graahh… I used to hate this evil fellow but that chapter changed it. Pretty much love him now.

One more time, one more chance!

Minamimoto, commission for ~rteazer

Amano Tsukiko Medley Cover [Youtube]

Busy month. State-standardized tests, AP tests (though not me personally), end-of-grading-period tests, orchestra auditions, concerts, recitals. Partly why I’m going on hiatus (sort of) for a while. Less social networking. Though it gives me a bit more time to catch up and begin reading manga. Hehe, what a waste of time, but it’s pretty enjoyable.

Mother’s day is coming up! Everyone have something for their beloved moms yet? I’m working on mine right now…

The receding throb of school

I was pretty excited today, since I actually completed my first commission.

I’m honored to be commissioned by Samiraku, a wonderful artist. Please go check out her deviantART gallery. This is her original character Mori.

... Mori is one of the hell captains, a very serious hard working guy. The only times he can really forget his worries is when he can hear birdsong. But there are no song birds where he is...

I enjoyed doing this commission very much, because he is such a beautiful character, in personality and design!

Commission slots are still open if you’re interested.

3 other pieces done since the last post:

Happy birthday to xxxRushi, who was featured on this blog here.

Online club assignment

Drawing on my hand in class. Got scolded by mother. Never completed.

Ah, school is almost over and I’ll soon be reclining at home, drawing like a maniac. Unfortunately, I cannot rest yet, for this Saturday I have a violin festival. And I’m not big on practicing, but I have to for the sake of my pride and my sister’s.

Also this weekend there will be a local arts festival. I most likely will go, since I’ve gone every year I’ve lived here. And maybe I should invite a few friends so we can stare at the pretty pottery, paintings, and all sorts of goodies.

I'm Alive

Well, barely alive.

Schoolwork is overwhelming. As well as violin and piano.

The internet is my escape. That is, before I pass out from exhaustion. I hardly even have time to draw anymore - and I probably won't until (in the very best situation) mid-March.

Everyone else hanging in there?

A Night of Havoc, part 1 in which I die

Tonight was dreadful.

I cursed 500 times more tonight than I did the last month combined. (When you see the word 'granola,' you can bet that it's a substitute for some other thoughts.)

First of all, it's a Monday. Everyone can understand that. But I had piano lessons, from 4:30 to 6:00, since my sister and I take our lessons back-to-back. I kept stressing about the lessons, and I almost forgot about my concert. But the school is close by to my teacher's house, and the time would be just right.

But on the way to my piano teacher's house, I remembered that I left my orchestra uniform and shoes home, but luckily, my sister had a concert too (elsewhere) and so my mother said she would come back with it.

Meanwhile, I had forgotten the call time and assumed it to be 6:30 P.M., but I told my mother 6:15, just in case.

She picked me up from piano lessons late because of all the exceedingly-congested rush hour traffic which happens to occur right in front of my neighborhood. I quickly changed in the car and right as we were in front of the school, both of us realized that I didn't have my violin.

...

My violin. How could I forget my instrument to an orchestra concert. I wanted to hit myself so hard and knock my body unconscious. I took a hold of myself and told my poor, stressed mother to please bring back my violin in 10 minutes, max. Our house is unfortunately 5 minutes away, not including the traffic. Poor Mother, I put too much stress on you today, didn't I.

As I walked in from the frosty outside air into the nicely heated building, people gave me strange looks. Well, I was wearing our 1960s-styled orchestra dress, which only the freshmen girls had to wear.

And when I strolled (with worried thoughts in my head) into the orchestra room, where my orchestra was supposed to meet, I think I died just then and there:

Everyone was dressed out, sitting in their chairs with instruments in hand. The director was tuning, and (I swear,) every. Single. Person. Was. Staring. At. Me. And. My. Empty. Hand.

Holy freaking granola goddess, why did the call time have to be 6:15.

I checked my watch. It was 6:20. I would have points deducted for being late, and not only that, I HAD NO INSTRUMENT. The director didn't even look at me. I panicked, and my friends looked at me with a mix of concern and shock. It's times like these that I truly wish time were on my side.

Panicking, I walked in and out of the room, but with no instrument. Holy granola bars, I was going to be murdered ruthlessly by my directors, I knew it. Of all days, why today to have bad luck?

Finally, I called my mother and she was coming, and she was annoyed. I stood by the double-doors, waiting and praying and desperately staring for the vehicle that would deliver the vital goods.

6:41. The highly-anticipated violin had arrived. After 20 minutes. Oh gawd, the director would kill me now, wouldn't he? My orchestra was almost done with their rehearsal, which I had missed, and I rushed into the eerie room and quickly unpacked my violin, only to find that my shoulder-rest was not there. I would just have to manage.

As my group practiced their last song, I tried to keep up, hands cold from the short trip outside and nerves causing havoc on my mind and body. Through the few minutes of practice I got, I kept thinking of what the director would do to me tomorrow. I was sure I would fail.

Fortunately, after we rehearsed, we had a few minutes to calm down before we entered the stage. I was ever-so-grateful to the concertmaster, because he let me use his shoulder-rest, since he doesn't use it. I'm indebted to him.

The concert was overall ok. My mental state was not.

I rushed home, not wanting to face the director at all. Though it may have been better if I did, for he most likely would not rebuke me. I'm still nervous, and my senses are on edge, like I've taken too much caffeine, and I know something will pop out from behind a corner but I'm not sure what.

...

I am awaiting the director's punishment. I'm sure it'll be harsh. What if I fail? I am done for. I know it's all my fault and I'm pretty much responsible for this, but I do not want to die. Though I think I already am.

Inkling

I suppose today was fine. Just hot and boring. Just two to three weeks ago, we were still shivering from the cold.  I was picking up litter with my friends and none of them had heart to pick anything up. Such un-green friends. Just yesterday was Earth Day, and now my buddies were complaining about the heat, light, and the pure grossness of picking up after slobs. At least one of them were actually trying to help. I can't believe the unwillingness in my friends. What sadness.

Thank God that the childish crayon project is over. Now, we're working on a surreal one-point perspective maze that's due tomorrow. I'm done with the sketching; just have to finish the coloring. I included some OC's I created for myself in this past two months. Strangely, all of them have elfin ears...

I'm preparing for a violin festival coming up. Still need to practice, but I'm busy and there's not enough time. There never is.

I got so bored today, I began to doodle on my palm in blue ballpoint pen. Pretty soon, my hand was tattooed completely. But I know some people that would be disappointed in my skin art, so I had to wash it away. Only some of the ink would rub away, so I tried hand sanitizer and later, my palms became Avatar-blue. Fortunately, they just only are a bit bluish.

Sorry. Must go. I must gather more interesting topics to post.
